The Line: Chattanooga Mocs -1 -- Over/Under: 140.5
The Wofford Terriers and the Chattanooga Mocs meet in a SoCon tournament semi-final matchup from the Harrah’s Cherokee Center on Sunday.
The Wofford Terriers punched their ticket to the semi-finals after a 77-68 win over Furman last time out. Nathan Hoover leads Wofford in scoring with 15.4 PPG while Storm Murphy is 2nd in scoring and tops in assists with 11.7 PPG and 3.4 APG and Chevez Goodwin has 11.5 PPG and 6.2 RPG this season. As a team, Wofford is averaging 71.7 points on 45.8% shooting from the field, 34.6% from 3-point range and 71.6% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 68.2 points on 43.9% from the field and 33% from 3-point range this season.
The Chattanooga Mocs booked their spot in the tournament semis after a 78-68 win over UNC-Greensboro last time out. Matt Ryan leads Chattanooga in scoring with 15.8 PPG and 4.8 RPG while Ramon Vila has 12.9 PPG and a team-high 5.5 RPG this season. David Jean-Baptiste has 12.7 PPG and Maurice Commander leads Chattanooga in assists with 2.6 APG this season. As a team, Chattanooga is averaging 73 points on 45.1% shooting from the field, 35.5% from 3-point range and 71.3% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 68.4 points on 44.6% shooting from the field and 30.5% from 3-point range this season.
I'll give credit where it's due as Chattanooga's been arguably the most consistent cover team in the SoCon this year, so getting this low of a line with the Mocs is tempting. However, Wofford looked really good against Furman on Saturday and the Terriers just looked like a team that isn't a 7-seed in a conference tournament, they're looking like the Wofford team that we've gotten used to seeing in the Big Dance come March. I think the Terriers feed off of that momentum and get another win here, so I'll take Wofford and the free point here.
