The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns and the Georgia Southern Eagles meet in college basketball action from Hanner Fieldhouse on Monday.
Coming into this Sun Belt Tournament matchup, Louisiana sits at 14-18 overall. Over their last four games Louisiana is 3-1, and they kicked off the tournament in style with a 73-66 win over Arkansas State.
In the Saturday win over Arkansas State, Louisiana’s leading scorer was Mylik Wilson with 17 points, 12 rebounds and two assists. Jalen Johnson also posted a double-double for Louisiana in that one with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Cedric Russell chipped in 12 points.
Over on the Georgia Southern side, they’re 18-13 this season. After recording consecutive wins over Texas-Arlington and Georgia State, Georgia Southern fell to Arkansas State in their last outing.
In the loss to Arkansas State, Georgia Southern’s top performer was Isaiah Crawley on 20 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. Both Quan Jackson and Ike Smith put up 14 points apiece there, and the duo combined for seven assists with six rebounds as well.
Georgia Southern is 1-5-1 ATS in the last seven Monday games and 10-4-2 ATS in their last 16 after an ATS loss. The under is 5-1 in Georgia Southern’s last six overall and 8-2 in their last 10 after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, Louisiana is 6-0 ATS in their last six Monday games and 10-23-1 ATS in their last 34 after a straight-up win. Louisiana is 5-2 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win and the over is 4-0-1 in their last five road games.
Louisiana has settled into a pretty good scoring groove over their last nine games or so; there’s only one instance in that frame where they’ve finished below 70 points (69 in a loss to Little Rock), and though they’ve been pretty sketchy with points allowed Louisiana is putting up enough offense to deal with it.
As for Georgia Southern, they’ve hit 75 or more in each of their last three games, and they should put up a pretty good total here also. All things considered I like Louisiana to stay hot and cover here, though.
