The Green Bay Phoenix and the Northern Kentucky Norse meet in a Horizon League conference tournament quarterfinal matchup from the Indiana Farmers Coliseum on Monday night.
The Green Bay Phoenix will look to roll on to the conference championship game following a 78-63 win over Oakland in their quarterfinal matchup last time out. JayQuan McCloud leads the Phoenix with an average of 17.2 PPG, 5.1 RPG and 4.6 APG this season while Amari Davis has 15.9 PPG and Kameron Hankerson has 11.2 PPG this season. As a team, Green Bay is averaging 82.2 points on 46.1% shooting from the field, 37.5% from 3-point range and 75.3% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 80.6 points on 44.3% shooting from the field and 35.3% from 3-point range this season.
The Northern Kentucky Norse come into the conference tournament as the #2 seed, earning the double bye after a 13-5 mark in conference play as part of their 21-9 overall record this season. Dantez Walton has 16.3 PPG and 7 RPG in 19 games while Tyler Sharpe has 14.9 PPG and Jalen Tate has 13.4 PPG with 5.4 RPG and 3.6 APG in 20 games this season. Trevon Faulkner has 12.1 PPG while Adrian Nelson has 6.6 RPG and Bryson Langdon has 3.3 APG this season. As a team, Northern Kentucky is averaging 73.2 points on 43.1% shooting from the field, 30.7% from 3-point range and 68.6% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 65.3 points on 41.5% shooting from the field and 29.6% from 3-point range this season.
I’ve gone back and forth on this one as the road team took both head-to-head meetings this season and Northern Kentucky’s had time to rest and the underdog’s we’ve seen take advantage of higher seeds in the conference tournaments this year usually do so with the games in quick succession, you don’t normally have a couple of days between games. With that said, this will be Northern Kentucky’s first game in 10 days, so there definitely could be some rust there while Green Bay has continued their offensive output against lheir first two opponents. I’ll take Green Bay and the points here and I’ll also side with the under as both meetings this year fell well short of the total, both of which were set around the same 150 mark that this game is set at coming in.
