The UIC Flames and the Wright State Raiders meet in college basketball action from Indiana Farmers Coliseum on Monday.
Coming into this Horizon League Tournament matchup, UIC is 18-16 overall. In the first round UIC took out IUPUI 93-59 before a tighter game against Youngstown State, emerging victorious 67-61.
In the win over Youngstown State, UIC’s leading scorer was Michael Diggins with 17 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Marcus Ottey was also in double-figures there with 10 points and two boards, and Tarkus Ferguson had 13 rebounds, four assists and six points.
Over on the Wright State side, they’re 25-6 so far. Since their last loss to Youngstown State on February 20, Wright State has taken out Cleveland State and Northern Kentucky in their last pair.
In the win over Northern Kentucky, Wright State’s leading scorer was Loudon Love with 20 points, 14 rebounds and one assist. Billy Wampler also doubled up there with 11 points, 11 rebounds and one assist, and Cole Gentry chipped in 12 points with four rebounds.
Wright State is 3-0-1 ATS in their last four Monday games and 4-1 ATS in the last five after a straight-up win. Wright State is 5-2 ATS in their last seven neutral-site games and the over is 6-2 in the last eight overall.
Meanwhile, UIC is 4-10 ATS in their last 14 Monday games and 6-13-1 ATS in their last 20 after a straight-up win. UIC is 1-3-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS win and 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 games overall.
UIC didn’t have any issues with IUPUI; the Flames jumped out to a big 53-22 halftime lead and never looked back. The Youngstown State game was a little tighter, but UIC had a 33-24 edge there at halftime but weren’t realistically in much danger. It’s been an impressive run so far for UIC.
As for Wright State, it’ll be interesting to see how they come out in this game following a relatively lengthy layoff. This should be a really fun matchup, and all things considered I like UIC to bang out a cover in a must-see game.
