The Line: Robert Morris Colonials -1 -- Over/Under: 144.5
The Robert Morris Colonials and the Saint Francis (PA) Red Flash meet in the NEC championship game from the UPMC Events Center on Tuesday night.
The Saint Francis (PA) Red Flash booked their spot in the title game with an 84-72 win over Sacred Heart last time out. Isaiah Blackmon leads the Red Flash in scoring with 18.9 PPG while Keith Braxton is right behind in 2nd with 17.5 PPG as well as logging team-highs of 7.4 RPG and 3.8 APG as well. Myles Thompson is 3rd in scoring with 10.3 PPG this season for Saint Francis as well as logging 5 RPG this season. As a team, Saint Francis (PA) is averaging 77.5 points on 46.2% shooting from the field, 36.4% from 3-point range and 74.6% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 72 points on 44.6% shooting from the field and 33.7% from 3-point range this season. Saint Francis (PA) is 8-7 straight up and 11-3 against the spread on the road this season.
The Robert Morris Colonials punched their ticket to the conference tournament championship after an 86-66 win over LIU last time out. Josh Williams leads the Colonials in scoring with 13.5 PPG while AJ Bramah is 2nd in scoring with 13 PPG and tops in rebounding with 7.9 rebounds per game this season. Dante Treacy and Yannis Mendy each have 8.5 PPG with Treacy logging a team-high 4.5 APG this season. As a team, Robert Morris is averaging 69.4 points on 44% shooting from the field, 36.5% from 3-point range and 66.3% from 3-point range while allowing opposing teams to average 67.4 points on 45.1% shooting from the field and 32.2% from 3-point range this season. Robert Morris is 11-3 straight up and 8-5 against the spread at home this season.
I’ve gone back and forth on this game as this could be the most evenly contested title game of all the conferences this season. With that said, the home team won both meetings this season and Robert Morris was a strong 11-3 SU at home this season, but I’d feel a bit weird leaving Saint Francis on the table in an underdog role here. The Red Flash more than held their own on the road this season, averaging 76.2 PPG and going 11-3 ATS away from home. The Red Flash have also been playing better ball over the last ten games, so I’ll take a shot with Saint Francis (PA) and the point in a game that’s probably better to just watch rather than bet.
