The Line: Northern Arizona Lumberjacks -4.5 -- Over/Under: 143
The Idaho State Bengals and the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks meet in college basketball action from CenturyLink Arena on Wednesday.
Coming into this Big Sky Tournament matchup, Idaho State sits at 7-22 so far. Since their last win over Weber State on March 2, Idaho State has lost consecutive games to Eastern Washington and Idaho.
In the loss to Idaho, Idaho State’s leading scorer was Malik Porter with 25 points, nine rebounds and two assists. Jared Stutzman added 13 points, two rebounds and one assist there as well, and Austin Smellie had 10 points, four assists and one rebound.
Over on the Northern Arizona side, they’re 16-14 this year. Northern Arizona last won February 27, and since then they’ve fallen to Montana State and Portland State consecutively.
In the loss to Portland State, Northern Arizona’s leading scorer was Cameron Shelton with 27 points, eight assists and six rebounds. Bernie Andre added 17 points and five rebounds in that one and Brooks DeBisschop had 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Northern Arizona is 4-11 ATS in their last 15 Wednesday games and 2-5 ATS in thier last seven after an ATS loss. Northern Arizona is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall and the over is 7-1 in their last eight versus a team with a losing straight-up record.
Meanwhile, Idaho State is 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall and 1-5 ATS in their last six neutral-site games. Idaho State is 1-4 ATS in their last five versus a team with a winning straight-up record and the over is 19-7 in their last 26 overall.
Idaho State went through a pretty ugly losing streak a little while back, but the good news is that they’ve been scoring much better in recent weeks. In each of their last five games, Idaho State has put up 72 points or more, but they’re also giving up a ton of points.
As for Northern Arizona, they’ve been pretty underwhelming scoring-wise lately, so this matchup might look similar to the 88-87 Northern AZ road win the last time these teams met up. I think Idaho State can eke in there.
