The Florida Atlantic Owls and the Old Dominion Monarchs meet in college basketball action from Ford Center at the Star on Wednesday.
Florida Atlantic enters this Conference USA Tournament matchup at 16-15 overall. After beating UAB and UTSA in consecutive games, Florida Atlantic has fallen to Old Dominion and Marshall in their last pair.
In the loss to Marshall, Florida Atlantic’s top scorer was Jailyn Ingram with 19 points, six rebounds and one assist. DJ Robertson added 14 points and three assists there, and Richardson Maitre had 10 points, four rebounds and one assist for Florida Atlantic.
Over on the Old Dominion side, they’re 13-18 this year. ODU is 2-3 in their last five games, beating FL Atlantic and UTSA while otherwise dropping to North Texas, Marshall and UAB.
In the loss to UAB, Old Dominion’s lead scorers were Anthony Oliver and Malik Curry, each of whom posted 16 points as well as a combined five assists and 12 rebounds. Xavier Green also finished in double-digits for Old Dominion there with 12 points, five rebounds and two assists.
Old Dominion is 15-6-1 ATS in their last 22 Wednesday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five overall. Old Dominion is 0-4 ATS in their last four neutral-site games and the over is 3-0-1 in their last four overall.
Meanwhile, Florida Atlantic is 4-17 ATS in their last 21 Wednesday games and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 neutral-site games. Florida Atlantic is 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss and the under is 4-1 in their last five after an ATS loss.
Florida Atlantic has put up some nice offensive outings lately, with 80 or more in each of their last three games. The trouble there is that the Owls are just 1-2 during that time after coughing up 85 points to Old Dominion and 94 to Marshall.
As for the Monarchs, they’ve been all over the place scoring-wise lately, with 66 or fewer in three of their last five. This is probably going to be another higher-scoring game (and a fun one to watch), but I like Florida Atlantic to get in there and cover.
