The UMass Minutemen and the VCU Rams meet in A-10 tournament Second Round action in a college basketball matchup from the Barclays Center on Thursday afternoon.
The UMass Minutemen come into the conference tournament as the #8-seed. Finishing the year with an 8-10 mark in conference play as part of a 14-17 overall record this season. Tre Mitchell leads UMass in scoring and rebounding with 17.7 PPG and 7.2 RPG while Carl Pierre has 12.1 PPG and Sean East II has 9.3 PPG as well as a team-high 4.9 APG this season. I get why VCU would be favored and laying the points against UMass could make sense. However, VCU hasn’t been very good against the number lately, and while we’ve made a nice chunk of change fading UMass, the fact remains that the Minutemen played much better ATS down the stretch and beat VCU outright just a couple of weeks ago. I’ll take my chances with UMass and the points in this one.
