The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles and Indiana Hoosiers meet Wednesday in college basketball action at the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles are coming off a nine-win season but four of those wins came in their final seven games. Jr. Clay returns after averaging 13.4 points and 3.9 assists while Keishawn Davidson turns after averaging nine points and 4.4 assists. Tujautae Williams grabbed 3.9 rebounds last season and Amadou Sylla averaged 19 minutes last season. The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles lost some of their depth last season, but they return their top two scorers who are also playmakers for others. Clay and Davidson averaged a combined 8.3 assists last season while making 106 threes. Tennessee Tech is going to be a competitive team this season with those two players leading the charge.
The Indiana Hoosiers won 20 games last season and had a chance to make a case for the Big Dance if the season continued. Trayce Jackson-Davis returns after averaging 13.5 points and 8.4 rebounds while Rob Phinisee returns after averaging 7.3 points and 3.4 assists. Joey Brunk grabbed 5.2 rebounds per game last season and Jerome Hunter averaged 14.4 minutes per game. The Indiana Hoosiers lost a lot of depth from last years roster, but they do return their leading scorer in Jackson-Davis. Indiana also has a really good recruiting class coming in with Anthony Leal, Jordan Geronimo and Khristian Lander being highly sought after players. Indiana has a chance to make some noise this season.
The Golden Eagles are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 Wednesday games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Hoosiers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The under is 4-1 in Golden Eagles last 5 overall. The over is 5-2 in Hoosiers last 7 home games.
The Indiana Hoosiers are obviously the better team here, but they did lose some notable players and will be relying on a lot of youth this season. The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles have depth issues, but their top two players are legit and can allow them to hang around in games like this. Tennessee Tech was playing its best basketball down the stretch last season and Clay can takeover a game offensively. The Golden Eagles can hang around in this spot.
Give me the points.
