The Pirates have lost their last two games to Norfolk State and VMI. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
William & Mary came out of the gate this season with a loss, falling 86-78 to Old Dominion. The Tribe were down 39-32 at the half in that one and couldn’t get any closer. Leading the way for William & Mary in that one was Connor Kochera with 19 points, three rebounds and two assists.
Game two against George Washington went better for the Tribe, an 85-84 win in overtime. William & Mary had to come back from a 46-31 halftime deficit for the victory. Luke Loewe was the top scorer in that one, posting 24 points, five rebounds and one assist.
Over on the Hampton side, it’s been an opener win followed by two double-digit losses so far. The Pirates beat George Washington 82-78 to kick off the year, then fell to Norfolk State 76-64. On Sunday against VMI, Hampton fell again 79-64 to fall to 1-2.
In the loss to the Keydets, Hampton’s Davion Warren put up 20 points, seven rebounds and two assists while Marquis Godwin added 15 points, five boards and two assists. Also in double-figures for the Pirates in that one was Dajour Dickens with 10 points, two rebounds and one assist.
Hampton is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 overall and 2-7 ATS in their last nine Wednesday games. The Pirates are 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 home games and the over is 18-8 in their last 26 overall.
Meanwhile, the Tribe are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight overall. William & Mary is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 after an ATS win and the under is 7-1 in their last eight Wednesday games.
PICK: I’m going William & Mary in this one. Though Hampton came out of the gate with a solid 82 points against George Washington, the Pirates haven’t scored as well over their last pair with just 128 combined points. William & Mary has posted 163 combined in their two outings this season. It’s admittedly a small sample size but the Tribe does have some capable scorers on the roster. Should be an interesting matchup but I like W&M on the eventual cover.
