The Wagner Seahawks and the Bryant Bulldogs meet Thursday in college basketball action from Chace Athletic Center.
Wagner enters this one at 0-2 so far. This game will be a rematch from Tuesday, which Wagner lost by 12 points. As for Bryant, they’re 5-2 this season. The Bulldogs have won their last two games versus Stony Brook and Wagner. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Wagner’s first game of the season was an unenviable matchup against Seton Hall. The Seahawks predictably fell big in that one 78-45. Leading the scoring for Wagner in the blowout loss were Elijah Allen and Elijah Ford. That duo each scored 13 points, combining for eight rebounds as well.
In the Wednesday game, Wagner fell behind 40-34 and never got any closer in an eventual 74-62 defeat. Leading the scoring for the Seahawks in that one was Elijah Ford with 23 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Elijah Allen chipped in with 15 points, three rebounds and two assists.
Over on the Bryant side, they’ve had a wild season so far with some big wins and some close losses. The Bulldogs opened with an 85-84 loss to Syracuse, then took wins over New Hampshire, RI college and St. Francis BK. A loss in the rematch to St. Francis BK followed, as did an 81-72 win over Stony Brook.
In the win Wednesday over Wagner, Bryant’s Peter Kiss posted 22 points with three assists and three steals to lead the team in scoring. Chris Childs added 14 points with two rebounds and one assist off the bench.
The Bulldogs are 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 Thursday games and the under is 6-0 in their last six Thursday games. Bryant is 5-1 ATS in their last six overall and 6-11 ATS in their last 17 versus a team with a losing straight-up record.
Meanwhile, The Seahawks are 0-5 ATS in their last five Thursday games and the under is 5-1 in their last six Thursday games. Wagner is 8-19 ATS in their last 27 road games and 9-25 ATS in their last 34 games overall.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Bryant here. The Bulldogs opened up with some nice offensive efforts over their first half-dozen games, notching 81 or more points in each outing. The Wednesday game shows how tight this cover will probably be; the Bulldogs pulled it off by just 1.5 points. I expect Wagner to play better in this rematch, and it’ll likely be a tighter game. I still like Bryant to eke out another cover, though. Should be a fun matchup.
