The Indiana Hoosiers and the Butler Bulldogs meet Saturday in college basketball action from Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Indiana is coming in here at 4-2 so far. The Hoosiers are 2-1 in their last three games, with a loss to Florida State and wins over Stanford and North Alabama. As for Butler, they’re 1-1 this season. The Bulldogs took out Western Michigan in the opener then fell to Villanova in game two. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Indiana has a couple of tough losses to great teams this season, but otherwise they’re doing well. The Hoosiers beat Tennessee Tech and Providence in their first two games, then fell to Texas 66-44 before beating Stanford 79-63. There was a tough loss to Florida State 69-67 before the blowout win over North Alabama in Indiana’s last outing.
In the win over the Lions, Indiana’s leading scorer was Armaan Franklin with 19 points, four rebounds and five assists. Trayce Jackson-Davis had a nice line in that one as well with 15 points, seven rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes on the court.
Over on the Butler side, they opened up with a 66-62 victory over Western Michigan. Aaron Thompson led the Bulldogs in scoring there, with 21 points, four assists and two rebounds. Jair Bolden added 15 points with nine rebounds and one assist, and Bryce Nze chipped in nine points.
Game two against Villanova didn’t go as well for Butler, and they fell 85-66. Bolden led the way for the Bulldogs on 18 points, five rebounds and two assists. Thompson added 14 points, six assists and three rebounds in the losing effort as well.
The Hoosiers are 2-7 ATS in their last nine Saturday games and 6-1 ATS in their last seven overall. Indiana is 4-1 ATS in their last five as a favorite and the under is 5-2 in their last seven Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 overall and 46-20-2 ATS in their last 68 neutral-site games. The over is 7-3 in Butler’s last 10 after an ATS loss and they’re 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 versus a team with a winning straight-up record.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Indiana here. The Hoosiers have really only had one bad game, the 22-point loss to an excellent Texas team. Outside of that, Indiana has been taking care of business with 79 or more points in each of their four wins. Butler has scored just 132 combined points in their first pair (granted, one was against Villanova) and I don’t think they’ve got the gas to keep up on offense here.
