Samford enters this one at 2-3 so far. The Bulldogs have lost their last two games, falling to Georgia and Troy in that pair. As for Kennesaw State, they’re 3-3 this season. Samford opened up with a tough loss to Alabama 78-76, but then got wins in their next two outings over Covenant and Belmont. Since then it’s been consecutive losses for the Bulldogs however, as they’ve fallen 79-75 to Georgia and 79-71 to Troy.
In the loss to the Trojans, Samford’s leading contributor was Christian Guess, who posted a double-double on 18 points, 13 rebounds and four assists. The only other Bulldogs player in double-figures for that one was Myron Gordon on 16 points, two assists and two rebounds.
Over on the Kennesaw State side, it’s been an up-and-down season so far. The Owls opened with wins over Carver and Toccoa Falls, then fell to UAB and Creighton before getting a win over Dalton State. On Wednesday versus Belmont, Kennesaw State fell again 64-53.
In the loss to the Bruins, Kennesaw State’s Spencer Rodgers led the way on 20 points, seven rebounds and one assist. Chris Youngblood was also in double-digits there with 10 poitns, six rebounds and one assist. Brandon Stroud chipped in with eight boards and six points as well.
Samford is 5-0 ATS in their last five Saturday games and 15-32-4 ATS in their last 51 overall. The Bulldogs are 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 road games and the over is 24-7 in their last 31 Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Owls are 1-7 ATS in their last eight home games and 1-5 ATS in their last six after an ATS win. Kennesaw State is 6-14 ATS in their last 20 overall and the over is 5-0-1 in their last six home games.
PICK: I’m going with Samford here. Kennesaw State has scored well in their three wins, with 72 or more points in each outing. Thing is, the Owls have faltered against decent competition, logging a max of 58 points in their three losses. Samford has had their issues at times this season as well, but they’ve hung in there and been competitive in every game. The Bulldogs shouldn’t have too many issues covering in this matchup if they play to their capabilities.
