Campbell kicked off the year with four straight victories. Those wins came 85-51 over St. Andrews, 80-78 against Jacksonville, 79-70 over New Orleans and 122-92 over Florida National. The Camels were flat in a 66-56 loss to Elon on Wednesday in their last game, however.
In the loss to the Phoenix, Campbell’s top scorer was Jordan Whitfield with 14 points, three rebounds and two assists. Cedric Henderson added 12 points with five rebounds, and Gediminas Mokseckas posted 10 points with one rebound.
Over on the NC State side, they opened up the year well also, winning their first three games. The Wolfpack too out Charleston Southern 95-61, then North Florida 86-51 and UMass Lowell 90-59. NC State got drilled by Saint Louis in their last game Thursday though, falling 80-69.
In the lost to the Billikens, NC State’s leading contributor was Manny Bates on 20 points with seven rebounds. Devon Daniels put up 15 points with three assists and one rebound, while Braxton Beverly was the only other Wolfpack player in double-figures with 13 points, three assists and two boards.
The Wolfpack are 0-7 ATS in their last seven Saturday games and 5-0 ATS in their last five home games. NC State is 5-1 ATS in their last five overall and the under is 5-1 in their last six Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Camels are 18-8 ATS in their last 26 after an ATS loss and 5-0 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss. The over is 4-1-1 in Campbell’s last six overall and 3-1-1 in their last five road games.
PICK: I like Campbell here. Both these teams are coming off tough losses to pretty good teams, so this will give us some good info on both squads. In any case, NC State stalled with a 37.9 percent field goal percentage against Saint Louis, and got out-rebounded by a whopping 53-26. Campbell notched some good offensive outings in their win streak, with 79 points or more in each game before hitting the wall against Elon. I like the Camels to regroup and make a game out of this matchup.
