The Milwaukee Panthers and the Green Bay Phoenix meet Saturday in college basketball action from Resch Center.

Milwaukee enters this matchup at 1-1 on the young 2020-21 season. The Panthers fell to Kansas State in their opener, but then took out Western Michigan in game two. As for Green Bay, they’re 0-4 this year. The Phoenix have fallen to Eastern Illinois and Marquette in their last two games. Milwaukee opened up the year with a tough loss to Kansas State, falling 76-75. In the defeat, the Panthers’ top scorer was DeAndre Gholston with 15 points, three assists and six rebounds. Grant Coleman added 14 points and six rebounds, and Te’Jon Lucas had 11 points, nine assists and five boards.

Game two against Western Michigan went better for Milwaukee, and they came up with a 71-63 win. Leading the Panthers was Lucas, with 16 points, four rebounds and four assists. Gholston added 13 points and six boards, and CJ Wilbourn notched 11 points and six rebounds.

Over on the Green Bay side, they’ve got three blowout losses and one close defeat so far. The Phoenix opened with a 99-69 loss to Minnesota and then fell big to Wisconsin 82-42. Green Bay then lost a tough one to Eastern Illinois 93-91 before falling to Marquette 82-68 in their last game.

In the loss to the Golden Eagles, Green Bay’s top contributor was PJ Pipes on 22 points, seven rebounds and one assist. Josh Jefferson posted 17 points, six assists and five boards, and Japannah Kellogg chalked up 11 points with five rebounds and one assist.

Green Bay is 2-5 ATS in their last seven Saturday games and 4-1 ATS in their last five home games. The over is 39-18 in the Phoenix’s last 57 Saturday games and 38-17 in their last 55 after a straight-up loss.

Meanwhile, the Panthers are 0-4 ATS in their last four Saturday games and 1-4 ATS in the last five after a straight-up win. Milwaukee is 2-7 ATS in their last nine overall and the over is 7-2 in their last nine overall.

PICK: I’m going to go with Milwaukee here. Green Bay has faced some tough opponents so far, but they’ve certainly been permissive on defense. The Phoenix have given up 82 or more points in every game, and 93 or more in two of four. The Panthers showcased some pretty solid offense in their first two outings with 146 combined points, so I think Milwaukee can bang out a cover here if the shots are falling.
