The Weber State Wildcats and the Portland State Vikings meet Sunday in college basketball action from Stott Center.
Weber State enters this one at 3-1 so far. After their first loss to Boise State last weekend, the Wildcats got a win over Portland State on Friday. As for the Vikings, they’re 1-3 this season. Portland State has lost their last two games to Washington State and Weber State. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Weber State kicked off their year with two big wins 88-60 over Adams State and 85-73 over Westminster UT. After that it was a rough loss 70-59 to Boise State for the Wildcats’ first defeat of the season. Weber State got back in the win column Friday against Portland State 94-66, however.
In the Friday victory, Weber State’s Zahir Porter posted 24 points with four rebounds and two assists. Isiah Brown added 18 points with five rebounds and four assists, and Cody Carlson chipped in with 14 points, nine rebounds and one assist.
Over on the Portland State side, it’s been a rough season so far. The Vikings opened with a loss to Portland 86-73, but then got a win over Northwest WA 88-48. Two more losses followed for Portland State, 69-60 against Washington State and 94-66 against Weber State on Friday.
In the loss to the Wildcats, Portland State’s James Scott led the way on 16 points with five rebounds. Khalid Thomas was the only other Vikings player in double-figures there with 12 points and two rebounds in 14 minutes. John Hall chipped in eight points with six rebounds and two assists as well.
Portland State is 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five home games. The Vikings are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four Sunday games and the over is 4-1-1 in their last six Sunday games.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 1-7 ATS in their last eight Sunday games. Weber State is 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall and the under is 5-2 in their last seven road games.
PICK: I’m going to go with Weber State in this one. The Wildcats had the edge in just about every category during Friday’s game, jumping out to a 48-31 lead at halftime and cruising the rest of the way. Weber State posted 48.4 percent from the field, 10-of-19 from 3-point range, 46 rebounds, 18 assists and 11 steals. The Vikings shot just 32.8 percent overall with 19 turnovers, and I don’t see them making a massive turnaround here. Should be a similar game.
