The Little Rock Trojans and the Missouri State Bears meet Monday in college basketball action from JQH Arena.
Little Rock enters this one at 4-2 so far. The Trojans have won consecutive games against Central Arkansas and Champion Baptist. As for Missouri State, they’re 2-0 this year. The Bears have beaten William Jewell and Northwest State in their first two games. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Little Rock was a little shaky out of the gate at 2-2 in their first quartet. The Trojans beat Prairie View and Duquesne but lost 77-70 to UNCG and 80-75 to Winthrop. Since then it’s been consecutive wins for Little Rock, 86-83 over Central Arkansas and 78-50 over Champion.
In the win over the Tigers, Little Rock’s top scorer was Markquis Nowell with 17 points, 10 assists and four rebounds in a double-double. The only other double-digit Trojans scorer in that victory was CJ White, who notched 12 points with three rebounds in 20 minutes on the court.
Over on the Missouri State side, they opened up with a 73-64 win over William Jewell, outscoring the Cardinals 33-20 in the first half. Gaige Prim was the leading contributor on 20 points, eight assists and six rebounds, and Ja’Monta Black added 16 points, eight boards and five assists.
Game two against Northwest State was another big win for Missouri State, this time 94-67. Prim barely missed out on a triple-double in that game with 26 points, nine assists and nine rebounds. Both Jared Ridder and Isiaih Mosley managed 18 points and three rebounds apiece.
The Bears are 7-2 ATS in their last nine games after a straight-up win and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games overall. Missouri State is 5-1 ATS in the last six home games and the over is 12-2 in their last 14 games overall.
Meanwhile, the Trojans are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five Monday games and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight after a straight-up win. Little Rock is 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall and the over is 22-5 in their last 27 overall.
PICK: I’m sticking with Missouri State in this one. Granted, the Bears haven’t exactly faced elite competition over their first two games, but they’re getting the job done with some nice contributions across the roster. Five Missouri State players had at least nine points in their last outing. Little Rock has been scoring well themselves this season with 70 or more points in all six games. This should be a higher-scoring game and a fun one to watch, but I like the Bears to eke out a cover.
