Pacific managed a 66-60 win over UC Riverside in their opener, then notched a flat effort against Nevada in a 70-58 loss. The Tigers picked it up again with a 74-70 win over Montana State, then kept it going with a big 92-64 win against an overmatched Westmont team on Sunday.
In the win over the Warriors, Broc Finstuen led the way for Pacific on 16 points, eight rebounds and three assists, while Daniss Jenkins chipped in with 11 points, three rebounds and three assists. Jeremiah Bailey notched a double-double in that game with 12 points, 13 rebounds and two assists as well.
Over on the Cal State Northridge side, they kicked things off with a 3-1 record this season, falling to Air Force while otherwise beating Westmont, Seattle and Pepperdine. Since then it’s been consecutive losses for the Matadors however. Those came 82-71 to Stanford and 87-56 to California.
In the Saturday loss to the Bears, CSUN’s TJ Starks led the team with 13 points, three assists and one rebound. The only other player for the Matadors who finished in double-digits there was Atin Wright, who collected 10 points and an assist in 13 minutes on the court.
The Matadors are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games and 7-2 ATS in their last nine overall. Cal State Northridge is 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight Tuesday games and the over is 5-1 in their last six home games.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five road games. The under is 7-2 in Pacific’s last nine after an ATS loss and 13-5 in their last 18 on the road versus a team with a winning home record.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Cal State Northridge here. The Matadors were overmatched in their last outing against Cal and couldn’t do much right. CSUN posted just 34.7 percent shooting from the field, 17 turnovers, and were out rebounded 35-25. It was a disappointing showing considering Cal State Northridge had notched 71 or more points in each of their previous three. The matchup is much better against Pacific, so I like the Matadors to bounce back in this one and post a solid cover.
