The Colorado Buffaloes and the Grand Canyon Antelopes meet in college basketball action from the T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday night.
The Colorado Buffaloes will look to build on their 5-1 start to the year after a 92-69 drilling of Washington last time out. McKinley Wright IV added 5 points with a team-high 5 assists as well for the Buffaloes in the winning effort. Wright IV leads Colorado in scoring and assists with 15.5 points and 5.7 assists per game while Horne leads the Buffaloes in rebounding with 6.2 rebounds per game this season. The Grand Canyon Antelopes will look to rebound from back-to-back losses after a 68-65 loss to San Francisco, falling to 4-2 last time out. Asbjorn Midtgaard led the Antelopes with 18 points on an efficient 9 of 11 shooting from the floor with a team-high 10 rebounds for the double-double whileOscar Frayer added 14 points on 4 of 8 shooting with a pair of threes and Alessandro Lever chipped in 12 points on 6 of 11 shooting. Jovan Blacksher Jr. chipped in 10 points with a team-high 9 assists and a pair of steals to round out the scoring in double figures for Grand Canyon in the losing efforts. Lever leads Grand Canyon in scoring with an average of 16.5 points per game while Midtgaard leads the Antelopes in rebounding with 9.5 rebounds per game and Blacksher Jr. is GCU’s top assist man with 5.7 assists per game this season. I think that Colorado’s the more name-recognizable team here, but make no mistake, this Grand Canyon team is for real. Sure, they caught a couple of breaks against San Francisco to bag the cover in a three point loss, but those kinds of bounces happen, you just want to be on the right side of it. Even with those bounces, Grand Canyon put themselves in a position to be In the game late and that’s no accident. I think Colorado isn’t going to bring anything new that Grand Canyon hasn’t seen up to this point, so I’ll take the Antelopes and the points in this one.
