The Georgia Southern Eagles and the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles meet in college basketball action from Alico Arena on Tuesday night.
The Georgia Southern Eagles will look to add to their current three-game winning streak and their 6-2 record on the year after a 119-43 dismantling of subdivision Carver College last time out. Cam Bryant led the Eagles with 29 points on 13 of 18 shooting with 3 threes and 9 rebounds while Ralueke Orizu added 16 points on 7 of 9 shooting with 10 rebounds for the double-double and Prince Toyambi added 13 points on 5 of 8 shooting with 9 rebounds and a pair of assists. Zack Bryant leads Georgia Southern in scoring with an average of 17 points per game while Toyambi leads the Eagles in rebounding with 6.4 rebounds per game and Eric Boone is Georgia Southern’s top assist man, dishing out 3.3 assists per game this season. As a team, Georgia Southern is averaging 86.8 points on 53% shooting from the field, 30.7% from 3-point range and 62.5% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 67 points on 42.2% shooting from the field and 40% from 3-point range this season.
The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles will be out to build on their 4-2 record after a 112-39 rout of subdivision Webber International last time out. Dom London led the Eagles with 22 points on 9 of 15 shooting with 4 threes and a pair of steals while Cyrus Largle added 14 points on 6 of 7 shooting and Franco Miller Jr. chipped in 12 points with team-highs of 7 rebounds and 10 assists for the double-double to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for FGCU in the win. Georgia Southern is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record and 12-5 ATS in their last 17 Tuesday games while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 road games. Florida Gulf Coast is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games and 10-24 ATS in their last 34 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 17-8-2 in their last 27 games overall.
It’s hard to really get a feel for these teams as 2020 has just taken over, with Georgia Southern playing 4 subdivision teams and Florida Gulf Coast playing three and their win over Miami-Florida has the asterisk because so many key guys were missing for Miami. I’ll lean towards Georgia Southern because Florida Gulf Coast has stumbled in step up games this season, but ultimately it’s probably a no play game for me.
