The Temple Owls and the Houston Cougars meet in AAC college basketball action from the Fertitta Center on Tuesday night.

The Houston Cougars will try to remain unbeaten after improving to 5-0 on the year following an 88-55 win over Alcorn State last time out. Quentin Grimes led the Cougars with 27 points on 9 of 17 shooting with 4 threes and 10 rebounds for the double-double while Reggie Chaney added 18 points on 6 of 8 shooting with 6 rebounds. Jamal Shead had 10 points with 3 assists and a pair of steals to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Houston in the win. Temple is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 road games against a team with a winning home record and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a win while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Houston is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following a win while the under is 16-5 in their last 21 games overall. The road team is 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings between these two teams.
I’d like to give the Owls a shot after how they looked in the opener against NJIT, but in reality, that was still a game against NJIT and having just one game under your belt against one of the best defensive teams in the country in Houston simply doesn’t feel like enough and I’m envisioning the Owls having a hard time here. Houston’s done a lot of damage defensively against teams that are a lot better, like Texas Tech, Boise State and South Carolina to name a few and I think you can add Temple to that list here. I’ll lay the points with Houston at home in this one.
