The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
Louisiana Tech enters this one at 6-2 so far. The Bulldogs have won consecutive games, taking out Jackson State and Lamar by significant margins. As for LA-Monroe, they’re 2-4 this year. The Warhawks have lost their last two games to Grambling State and Southern Miss. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Louisiana Tech has been quite impressive this year, outside of a couple flat games in their losses. After kicking off the season at 3-1, the Bulldogs took out SE LA 78-69, then lost to Louisiana 61-56. Two more wins followed, 85-58 over Jackson State and 86-57 over Lamar.
In the win over the Cardinals, Louisiana Tech’s leading contributor was Amorie Archibald with 14 points, six assists and three rebounds. JaColby Pemberton added 12 points with eight rebounds and three assists, and Isaiah Crawford chipped in with 13 points and six boards.
Over on the LA-Monroe side, they were able to start out at 2-2 this year with wins over Stephen F. Austin and NW State. Since then it’s been two losses, however. Those defeats came 78-61 to Grambling State and 60-47 to Southern Miss.
In the loss to the Eagles, LA-Monroe had no player in double-digit scoring. The closest was Harrison Russell with nine points and four rebounds. Erie Olonade added eight points with two assists and one rebound, and Thomas Howell posted six points and five boards.
The Warhawks are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall and the under is 5-2 in their last seven overall. The over is 43-16-1 in UL-Monroe’s last 60 home games and the under is 6-2 in their last eight after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games and 2-7 ATS in their last nine versus a team with a winning straight-up record. The over is 14-6 in LA Tech’s last 20 overall and 5-1 in the last six after an ATS win.
PICK: I’m sticking with LA Tech. LA-Monroe was flat against a pretty average Southern Miss team in their last appearance, notching just 35.3 percent shooting from the field, 17 turnovers and eight assists as a team. The Warhawks were also out-rebounded 40-33 in that one, and they’ve notched just 108 combined points in their last pair. Louisiana Tech has been rolling along in their last two games, and I think they’ll get another big cover/win here.
