Hofstra opened up the year at 1-2, beating Fairleigh Dickinson while otherwise falling to Rutgers and Iona. Two wins followed 72-67 over Stony Brook and 96-88 over Monmouth. The Pride dropped another game in their last appearance however, falling 77-69 to St. Bonaventure.
In the loss to the Bonnies, Hofstra’s top scorer was Jalen Ray on 28 points, three assists and two rebounds. Isaac Kante was the only other Pride player in double-figures there, logging 15 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double.
Over on the Richmond side, it’s been a pretty good run so far. The Spiders opened up with four straight wins over Morehead State, Kentucky, Wofford and Northern Iowa. An 87-71 loss to West Virginia followed, then Richmond got two more wins over Vanderbilt 78-67 and Loyola IL 75-73.
In the win over the Ramblers, Richmond’s Blake Francis led the team on 27 points with three rebounds and two assists. Jacob Gilyard managed 19 points with three assists and one rebound, and Grant Golden had a nice line with 14 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
Richmond is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 overall and 7-15 ATS in their last 22 Tuesday games. The Spiders are 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games and the over is 4-1 in their last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Pride are 53-24-1 ATS in their last 78 games overall and 4-0 ATS in their last four Tuesday games. Hofstra is 36-14-2 ATS in their last 52 road games and the under is 16-6-1 in their last 24 overall.
PICK: I’m sticking with Hofstra here. The Pride came out of the gate with a relatively tepid 56 points against a great Rutgers team, but they’ve been much better on offense since then. Hofstra has logged 72 or more points in four of their last five games, the outlier being 69 in the Bonnies loss. Richmond is going to jump right out on the scoreboard here and pour in the points, but I like the Pride to keep pace and manage a cover.
