Towson hasn’t been able to get anything going on the court this year. The Tigers opened the season with an 89-54 loss to Virginia, then fell by double-digits again 78-68 to San Francisco. Game three was more of the same: a 74-65 loss to Buffalo on November 27.
In the loss to the Bulls, Towson’s Zane Martin put up 27 points with six assists and five rebounds to lead the team. The only other Tigers player in double-figures there was Charles Thompson with 17 points and five rebounds.
Over on the George Mason side, they’ve done well so far outside of the one loss. The Patriots took out Queens NC 66-65 in the opener but lost to Belmont 77-67 in game two. Since then it’s been a pair of wins for George Mason: 84-70 over Howard and a tight 68-66 win over VMI.
In the victory over the Keydets, George Mason’s AJ Wilson doubled up on 22 points with 10 rebounds, and Tyler Kolek posted 11 points with two rebounds and two assists. Jamal Hartwell and Javon Greene each chipped in eight points with a combined five rebounds as well.
George Mason is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games and 7-15-1 ATS in their last 23 overall. The under is 4-1 in the Patriots’ last five homes games and 7-2 in their last nine at home versus a team with a losing road record.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 1-4 ATS in their last five Wednesday games and 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 road games. Towson is 0-3-1 ATS in their last four overall and the over is 4-1 in their last five overall.
PICK: I’m going to stick with George Mason here. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Towson on the court though, so I’m probably staying away. The Tigers haven’t scored well in their first three, with 68 or fewer in each game. Towson has also given up 74 or more in each outing. The Patriots aren’t stellar at scoring this season themselves, but they’ve done well enough to bang out three wins with some pretty solid defense. George Mason is probably the better play on a cover in this one.
