The Georgetown Hoyas and the Seton Hall Pirates meet Friday in college basketball action from Madison Square Garden.

Georgetown enters this Big East Tournament matchup at 11-12 overall. The Hoyas upset Villanova in tourney activity on Thursday. As for Seton Hall, they’re 14-12 this year. The Pirates beat St. John’s on Thursday in overtime. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Georgetown had a rough start to their season, going just 3-8 through their first 11 games. Since then (and after a layoff in January), the Hoyas are 8-4. In their last two games, Georgetown has taken out Marquette and Villanova.

In the 72-71 tournament win over Villanova on Thursday, Georgetown had a slim 37-35 lead at the half and was able to hang on for the upset. Leading the way in scoring was Dante Harris with 18 points, three rebounds and five assists.

Over on the Seton Hall side, they’ve been hovering just above the .500 mark for most of the year, and it’s been something of a feast-or-famine campaign. The Pirates entered the tourney on a four-game skid, but posted a plucky win over St. John’s on Thursday.

In the tournament win over St. John’s, Seton Hall held a 33-32 edge at halftime but couldn’t hold it as the Storm evened things up. The Pirates had a nice overtime period and eventually notched a 77-69 win. Sandro Mamukelashvili led the team on 20 points with 11 boards.

The Pirates are 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 neutral-site games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up win. Seton Hall is 1-6 ATS in the last seven overall and the under is 4-0 in the last four overall.

Meanwhile, the Hoyas are 4-1 ATS in their last five neutral-site games and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 Friday games. Georgetown is 4-1 ATS in the last five overall and the under is 6-1 in their last seven Friday games.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Georgetown. The Pirates posted a nice revenge victory over St. John’s in the tournament, and had several key contributors to the stat sheet. That said, Georgetown won the last time these teams played 81-75, and this is likely to be another high-scoring affair. If the Hoyas can get off to a quick start and get their offense moving, I think they’re in a better spot for a potential cover. Should be a pretty great matchup, though.
