Missouri State has gotten off to a nice start this season with victories in their first three games. Those wins came 73-64 over William Jewell, 94-67 over Northwest State and 85-77 over Little Rock in the Bears’ most recent appearance on Monday.
In the win over the Trojans, Missouri State’s Isiah Mosley was the leading contributor on 26 points with eight rebounds and six assists. Ja’Monta Black also scored 26 points with two rebounds and one assist, and Gaige Prim chipped in with 10 points and five boards in 22 minutes of action.
Over on the Northern Iowa side, they opened up with three losses to Western Kentucky, Saint Mary’s and Utah State. The Panthers got a win 98-53 over St. Ambrose in game four, but then fell to Richmond 78-68 in their most recent game.
In the loss to the Spiders, Northern Iowa’s top scorer was Tywhon Pickford with 16 points and eight rebounds. Austin Phyfe managed 15 points with eight rebounds and two assists, and Trae Berhow logged 13 points with six rebounds and three assists.
Northern Iowa is 16-33-3 ATS in their last 52 after a straight-up loss and 18-37-2 ATS in their last 57 after an ATS loss. The Panthers are 0-5 ATS in their last five overall and the over is 4-1 in their last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Bears are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games and 7-2 ATS in the last nine after an ATS win. Missouri State is 4-0 ATS in their last four Sunday games and the over is 5-1 in their last six after a straight-up win.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Missouri State here. The Panthers have a few good scoring outings under their belt this season, with 71 or more in three of five games. Northern Iowa has given up 78 or more points in four of five games however. The Bears have a pretty solid offense through three games with 73 or more in each, and I think Missouri State will be able to keep that trend going with a cover in this one.
