The Denver Pioneers and the Grand Canyon Antelopes meet Tuesday in college basketball action from GCU Arena.
Denver enters this game at 1-6 so far. The Pioneers are riding a six-game losing streak right now, most recently falling to Northern Arizona last week. As for Grand Canyon, they’re 4-3 this year. The Antelopes have lost their last three straight games to Arizona State, San Francisco and Colorado. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Denver opened up the season with an 82-66 win over Regis CO, but hasn’t had any luck since with a six-game losing streak. Those defeats have come to UC Riverside, Wyoming, Dixie State, Northern Colorado, Texas State and Northern Arizona.
In the 68-65 loss to the Lumberjacks, Denver’s leading scorer was Jase Townsend with 16 points, three assists and one rebound. Both Drake Muller and Frank Ryder posted 11 points apiece, and Sam Hines hauled in 13 rebounds with seven points for the Pioneers.
Over on the Antelopes’ side, they came out of the gate strong with four straight wins over Grambling State, Benedictine Mesa, MS Valley State and Nevada. Since then it’s been three straight losses to Arizona Sate, San Francisco and Colorado, however.
In the 74-64 loss to Colorado, Grand Canyon’s Jovan Blacksher led the way on 17 points with four rebounds and three assists. Asbjorn Midtgaard added 16 points with nine rebounds and one assist, and Sen Miller-Moore provided 12 points with five assists and four rebounds.
Grand Canyon is 6-0 ATS in the last six home games and 4-0 ATS in their last four after an ATS win. The Antelopes are 7-0 ATS in their last seven overall and 5-1 ATS in their last six Tuesday games.
Meanwhile, the Pioneers are 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall and 6-2 ATS in their last eight road games. The over is 8-2 in Denver’s last 10 after an ATS loss and 19-9 in their last 28 overall.
PICK: I’m sticking with Grand Canyon in this one. Denver has had a few pretty good offensive outings this year, but they’ve been wildly inconsistent on the scoreboard. The Pioneers have given up 68 or more points in each of their last six games and haven’t been able to keep up. Grand Canyon has had a few difficulties of their own across the last three games, but the Antelopes were within three points in two of those losses. I like Grand Canyon to bag a solid cover with a bounce-back game here.
