The Southeastern Louisiana Lions and the Lamar Cardinals meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Montagne Center.
Southeastern Louisiana enters this one at 2-6 on the season. The Lions broke a three-game losing streak with a win over Grambling State in their last game. As for Lamar, they’re 1-7 this year. The Cardinals are riding a three-game losing streak, falling to Southern Miss, LA Tech and UTSA in that span. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Southeastern Louisiana opened up the year with three straight losses, falling to Fort Wayne, UAB and LSU. After a one-point win over California Baptist it was another three losses to Cal Baptist, LA Tech and Texas A&M. The Lions got a 77-70 win over Grambling State last week, however.
In the win over the Tigers, Southeastern Louisiana’s top scorer was Keon Clergeot with 25 points, four rebounds and two assists. Gus Okafor posted a double-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds and one assist, and Joe Kasperzyk added 16 points with two rebounds and two assists.
Over on the Lamar side, they kicked off the season with a four-game losing streak, dropping to Houston, Tulane, Lipscomb and Air Force in succession. The Cardinals got a 63-60 win over LA-Monroe, but then fell to Southern Miss 66-63, LA Tech 86-57 and UTSA 88-66.
In the loss to the Roadrunners, Lamar’s Davion Buster posted 18 points with two rebounds. Kasen Harrison managed 13 points with four rebounds and two assists, and Anderson Kopp put up 10 points with two rebounds and two assists for the Cardinals.
Lamar is 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall and 1-5 ATS in their last six Tuesday games. The Cardinals are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 after an ATS loss and the under is 7-3 in their last 10 overall.
Meanwhile, the Lions are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five overall. Southeastern Louisiana is 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win and the over is 4-1 in the last five overall.
PICK: I’m sticking with Southeastern Louisiana here. There’s not a ton of intrigue involved in a matchup between teams with three combined wins, but this should be a pretty good game. Lamar has been quite tepid on offense this season, posting more than 66 points just once in eight games. There should be some more room for the Cardinals to score in this one, as Southeastern Louisiana has given up 70 or more in each of their last seven. That said, I still think the Lions offense can bang out a cover.
