The Wofford Terriers and the Mercer Bears meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Hawkins Arena.

Wofford enters this matchup at 3-3 overall. The Terriers are 1-3 in their last three games, with losses to Richmond, South Florida and Texas A&M in that span. As for Mercer, they’re 7-1 so far this year. The Bears lost to Georgia State on December 16 but bounced back to win versus Kennesaw State in their last outing. Wofford kicked things off this year with two wins over Toccoa Falls and Carver, but then fell in the next pair to Richmond 77-72 and South Florida 58-56. After a win over Coastal Carolina 88-77, the Terriers fell again to Texas A&M in their last game, this time 70-52.

In the loss to the Aggies, Wofford’s only double-digit scorer was Max Kelesmit with 14 points and one rebound. Tray Hollowell added seven points with three rebounds and two assists, and Ryan Larson notched six points, eight assists and three rebounds for the Terriers.

Over on the Mercer side, they opened up the year with a six-game winning streak, taking out North Georgia, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, CIU, Southern Wesleyan and Georgia Southern. After an 88-81 loss to Georgia State, the Bears managed a win in their last outing 81-71 over Kennesaw State.

In the win over the Owls, Mercer’s top performer was Maciej Bender on 21 points and four rebounds. Ross Cummings added 15 points, two assists and four boards, and Felipe Haase doubled up on 11 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Leon Ayers chipped in 15 points with five rebounds as well.

Mercer is 5-12 ATS in their last 17 after an ATS loss and 27-13-1 ATS in their last 41 after a straight-up win. The over is 5-0 in the Bears’ last five overall and the under is 10-3 in their last 13 home games.

Meanwhile, the Terriers are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 Tuesday games and 5-2-1 ATS in the last eight games overall. Wofford is 5-2 ATS in the last seven after a straight-up loss and the under is 5-2 in the last seven on the road versus a team with a winning home record.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Mercer. This should be a pretty interesting matchup, though. Wofford has played well overall this year, but did let a couple of victories get away in close games versus Richmond and South Florida. The Terriers have been held to 56 points or below in two of their last three games however, and if that trend continues they’re going to have a difficult time keeping up with the Bears in this one.
