The Fresno State Bulldogs and the Colorado State Rams meet in college basketball action from Moby Arena on Wednesday afternoon.
The Fresno State Bulldogs will look to bounce back from their first loss of the season, falling to 2-1 on the year after a 75-53 loss to the Rams last time out. Orlando Robinson led the Bulldogs with 14 points on 5 of 8 shooting with 10 rebounds and a pair of steals for the double-double while Devin Gage added 10 points on 4 of 6 shooting with a pair of steals as well as the only other double-digit scorer for Fresno State in the losing effort. Robinson leads Fresno State in scoring and rebounding by averaging a double-double per game with 14.7 points and 10.3 rebounds per game while Isaiah Hill leads the Bulldogs in assists with 2.7 assists per game this season. As a team, Fresno State is averaging 72.7 points on 45.6% shooting from the field, 28.8% from 3-point range and 60% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 62.3 points on 35.8% shooting from the field and 33.3% from 3-point range this season.
The Colorado State Rams will look to add to their 4-1 mark on the year after their win over Fresno State last time out. David Roddy led the Rams with 19 points on 7 of 14 shooting with 3 threes and 13 rebounds for the double-double while Isaiah Stevens added 16 points on 4 of 8 shooting with 3 threes and a 5 of 5 mark from the foul line in addition to a team-high 9 assists and a pair of steals. Kendle Moore chipped in 14 points with 3 treys to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for CSU in the winning effort while Adam Thistlewood added 8 points with 3 steals. Roddy leads the Rams in scoring and rebounding with an average of 16 points and 9.2 rebounds per game while Stevens leads the Rams in assists with 5.6 assists per game this season. As a team, Colorado State is averaging 71.6 points on 45% shooting from the field, 36.3% from 3-point range and 73.6% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 58.4 points on 38.4% shooting from the field and 23.7% from 3-point range this season.
Fresno State is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 3-13-1 ATS in their last 17 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 road games. Colorado State is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games overall. The home team is 13-3 ATS in the last 16 meetings between these two teams and the favorite is 12-4 in the last 16 meetings between the two teams as well.
I get that it’s not easy to beat the same team twice in the span of a couple of days, but the Bulldogs showed their true colors in their first game against legitimate competition as Fresno State folded like a cheap lawn chair when opposed by a real team on the other side and not a subdivision opponent. Colorado State looks like a team that can cause some noise in the Mountain West this season if they perform like they did against Fresno State and I think that we see another convincing win from the Rams in this spot.
