Stanford comes into this one at 5-2 so far. The Cardinal are riding a four-game winning streak, most recently taking out CSU Bakersfield last week. As for Oregon State, they’re 4-3 this year. The Beavers have won consecutive games versus UTSA and Portland State in their last two outings. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Stanford opened up the year with an 82-64 win over Alabama, but then lost their next two games to North Carolina 67-63 and Indiana 79-63. Since then it’s been four straight wins for the Cardinal, however. Those victories came courtesy of NC A&T, CSU Northridge, Arizona and CSU Bakersfield.
In the win over the Roadrunners, Stanford’s Ziaire Williams managed 17 points with seven rebounds and three assists. Bryce Wills added 14 points with seven rebounds and three assists, and Oscar da Silva chipped in 10 points with six rebounds and one assist.
Over on the Oregon State side, they kicked off the year with consecutive wins over California and Northwest WA, but then fell in their next trio to Washington State, Wyoming and Portland. Two consecutive wins have come in the pair of outings since, one 73-61 over UTSA and the other 67-62 over Portland State.
In the win over the Vikings, Oregon State’s Zach Reichle and Jarod Lucas each notched 15 points while combining for four assists and nine rebounds. Abdul Alatishe notched a double-double as well, contributing 13 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in 34 minutes on the court.
The Beavers are 1-4 ATS in their last five overall and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 Thursday games. Oregon State is 3-9 ATS in their last 12 after a straight-up win and 20-8 in their last 28 after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Cardinal are 1-4 ATS in their last five Thursday games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win. The under is 9-3 in the Cardinal’s last 12 Thursday games and 13-6-2 in their last 21 road games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Stanford here. The Cardinal have played pretty well overall this year, with just one of their two losses coming by more than four points (16 against a good Indiana team). Stanford has generally scored pretty well also, with 78 or more points in four of their seven games. Oregon State has some talented scorers on the roster as well so this should be a competitive game. I like the Cardinal to eke out a late cover, though.
