The Jacksonville Dolphins and the Kennesaw State Owls meet Friday in college basketball action from KSU Convocation Center.

Jacksonville enters this matchup at 6-4 on the year. The Dolphins have lost consecutive games to Miami and Kansas State in their last pair. As for Kennesaw State, they’re 3-5 this season. The Owls have lost three straight games to Belmont, Samford and Mercer. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Jacksonville kicked off the season with three straight wins, taking out Coastal Georgia, Southern Miss and Presbyterian. The Dolphins then lost three straight to Georgia, Campbell and Florida National before bouncing back on a three-game win streak. Since then it’s been losses to Miami and Kansas State, however.

In the 70-46 blowout loss to the Wildcats, Jacksonville’s only double-digit scorer was Bryce Workman with 10 points and three rebounds. Corey Romich managed nine points with one rebound in 17 minutes of play, and Kevion Nolan chipped in with seven points, six assists and three rebounds.

Over on the Kennesaw State side, it’s been a pretty rocky year so far. The Owls opened with consecutive wins over Carver and Toccoa Falls, but they’re just 1-5 since then. In that stretch, Kennesaw State has a win over Dalton State with losses to UAB, Creighton, Belmont, Samford and Mercer.

In the 81-71 loss to the Bears, Kennesaw State’s top scorer was Spencer Rodgers on 20 points, four rebounds and two assists. Terrell Burden managed 17 points with three rebounds and two assists, and Chris Youngblood posted 10 points with three boards and one assist.

The Owls are 6-14 ATS in their last 20 after a straight-up loss and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games. The over is 4-1 in Kennesaw State’s last five Friday games and 6-1-1 in their last eight home games.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins are 1-4 ATS in their last five Friday games and 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 after an ATS loss. Jacksonville is 1-4-1 ATS in their last six overall and the over is 5-1-1 ATS in the last seven Friday games.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Kennesaw State here. Both these teams have been rocky, and they’ve both played some fairly tough opponents. Jacksonville has been blown out a couple of times but they’ve been pretty close in their other losses. As for the Owls, they’ve remained competitive in a few defeats but also have some blowouts to their credit as well. I think Kennesaw State’s offense is good enough to keep pace in this one, though. Should be a fun matchup.
