North Florida enters this matchup at 2-8 so far. The Ospreys are 2-1 in their last three outings however, taking out FIU and Edward Waters in that stretch. As for Stetson, they’re 2-4 this year. North Florida opened up the season with seven straight losses. Those defeats came courtesy of Eastern Kentucky, NC State, Miami, Florida State, High Point, Florida Atlantic and East Carolina. Since then it’s been a win over FIU, a loss to Flagler and a win over Edward Winters for the Ospreys.
In the 98-71 win over the Tigers, North Florida’s top scorer was Josh Endicott, who doubled up on 18 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. Emmanuel Adedoyin added 17 points with seven assists and one rebound, while Ryan Burkhardt chipped in 12 points and four rebounds.
Over on the Stetson side, they kicked off the year with a losing streak as well, going 0-4 against Emmanuel GA, Miami, Florida and South Florida. In the last two games it’s been a pair of wins for the Hatters however; they’ve taken out Florida Atlantic 78-69 and Carver 95-51.
In the win over the Cougars, Stetson’s Chase Johnson managed 19 points with three assists to lead the team. Josh Smith posted 16 points and seven rebounds, and Mahamadou Diawara added 13 points with five boards. Rob Perry doubled up on 11 points with 10 assists and four rebounds as well.
Stetson is 6-2 ATS in their last eight home games and 4-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win. The over is 5-1 in Stetson’s last six overall and 9-4 in their last 13 home games.
Meanwhile, North Florida is 20-6 ATS in their last 26 road games and 33-14 ATS in their last 47 overall. The Ospreys are 2-6 ATS in their last seven Friday games and the under is 4-1 in their last five road games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with North Florida. There aren’t a whole lot of wins to go around between these teams so far, so it may be tough to find some intrigue here. That said, both squads look better in their last few games and this should be a decent matchup. Stetson has generated some solid offensive output over the last couple outings, but I like North Florida’s offensive consistency a little better so far. The Ospreys should be able to keep a nice pace here and cover.
