The Wyoming Cowboys and the Fresno State Bulldogs meet Saturday in college basketball action from Save Mart Center.
Wyoming is sitting at 6-1 so far this year. The Cowboys are riding a five-game winning streak and took out Omaha in their last game. As for Fresno State, they’re currently 2-2. The Bulldogs have lost their last two games to Colorado State. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Wyoming opened up the year with a win over Mississippi Valley State, but then lost to Texas Southern in game two. The Cowboys were able to bounce back with five straight wins after that, taking out Incarnate Word, Oregon State, Denver, Utah Valley and Omaha in that time.
In the win over Omaha, Wyoming’s Drake Jeffries managed 19 points with three rebounds, and Marcus Williams added 15 points with three boards. Hunter Maldonado notched a double-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists for the Cowboys as well.
Over on the Fresno State side, they came out of the gate this season with consecutive wins over William Jessup 87-47 and Fresno Pacific 78-65. The Bulldogs have played Colorado State twice since then, losing 75-53 and 81-59.
In the loss to Colorado State on December 30, Fresno State’s top scorer was Orlando Robinson with 19 points, 15 rebounds and two assists. Deon Stroud was the only other Bulldogs player in double-figures there, notching 16 points with two rebounds.
Fresno State is 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall and 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 home games. The Bulldogs are 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall and the over is 6-2 in their last eight versus a team with a winning straight-up record.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games. Wyoming is 13-3 ATS in their last 16 road games and the over is 21-6-1 in their last 28 overall.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Wyoming in this one. The Cowboys offense has notched some nice outings this season, with 74 or more points in all seven games. That number also includes 82 or more in each of Wyoming’s last three games. Fresno State scored just 112 combined points in the Colorado State games, so it’s going to be hard for the Bulldogs to keep up if Wyoming gets going. Should be a good spot for a Cowboys cover.
