Bowling Green opened up the season with a los to Michigan, but then rattled off wins over SC State, App State, Purdue Calumet and Buffalo in their next four games. After a loss to Wright State, the Falcons have won their last two games over Robert Morris and Ohio.
In the win over the Bobcats, Bowling Green’s leading scorer was Trey Diggs with 20 points and seven rebounds. Kaden Metheny added 16 points with eight boards, and Justin Turner had 15 points with six assists and five rebounds.
Over on the Northern Illinois side, they came out of the gate with five straight losses. Those defeats came courtesy of UIC, SIUE, Pittsburgh, Ball State and Iowa. The Huskies managed a 10-point win over Chicago State, but then lost big to Toledo 78-55 on December 22.
In the loss to the Rockets, Northern Illinois’ Trendon Hankerson posted 16 points with four rebounds, while Tyler Cochran added 15 points with nine rebounds. Darius Beane chipped in with nine points, four rebounds and two assists as well.
The Huskies are 0-5 ATS in their last five home games and 0-8 ATS in their last eight games overall. Northern Illinois is 0-6 ATS in their last six after an ATS loss and 0-4 ATS in their last four Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Falcons are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games. Bowling Green is 0-4 ATS in their last four after an ATS win and the over is 7-1 in their last eight overall.
PICK: I’m going with Bowling Green. The Falcons have been on a nice offensive run this season, posting 83 or more points in four of their last five games. Bowling Green was down by 10 points to Ohio after a tough first half, so they get credit for posting 51 points the rest of the way and banging out an eight-point win. If the Falcons get rolling here, it’s going to be hard for Northern Illinois to stay anywhere close.
