Tshiebwe announced on Friday that he’s stepping away from the team due to personal reasons. Miles McBride added 9 poitns with 5 assists as well in the victory for West Virginia.McBride leads West Virginia in scoring and assists with 14.8 points and 4.1 assists per game while Culver leads the Mountaineers in rebounding with 9.9 rebounds per game this season. As a team, West Virginia is averaging 74.6 points on 42% shooting from the field, 30.3% from 3-point range and 71.3% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 67.5 points on 41.6% shooting from the field and 30% from 3-point range this season.
The Oklahoma Sooners will look to bounce back after a 69-67 loss to Texas Tech in their last matchup. Devion Harmon led the Sooners with 17 points on 5 of 11 shooting with a pair of steals while Austin Reaves added 13 points with 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Umoja Gibson had 11 points on 4 of 8 shooting with 3 threes to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Oklahoma in the losing effort. I was leaning towards West Virginia and the point at first glance, but the line felt fishy and now we know why. I think Tshiebwe leaving is a big loss for the Mountaineers as he was a big chunk of that team and was instrumental in what made WVU click when they were on. I think this is a prime opportunity for Oklahoma to catch West Virginia unfocused here, so I’ll take Oklahoma laying the point at home here.
