The Auburn Tigers and the Texas A&M Aggies meet Saturday in college basketball action from Reed Arena.
Auburn enters this one at 6-3 so far. The Tigers had a five-game winning streak snapped by Arkansas in their most recent outing. As for Texas A&M, they’re 5-2 this season. The Aggies had won consecutive games before falling to LSU in their last matchup. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Auburn opened up the year at 1-2 with a win over Saint Joseph’s before losses to Gonzaga and UCF. After that it was five straight wins over South Alabama, Memphis, Texas Southern, Troy and Appalachian State. The Tigers dropped their last game 97-85 versus Arkansas.
In the loss to the Razorbacks, Auburn’s Jamal Johnson led the team on 21 points with one rebound, and Allen Flanigan doubled up on 19 points with 10 rebounds and three assists. Devan Cambridge posted 15 points with four boards, and Jaylin Williams managed 13 points.
Over on the Texas A&M side, they opened the season with three straight wins over New Orleans, Tarleton State and UT Rio Grande Valley before falling to TCU. Since then it’s been wins over SE Louisiana and Wofford before a loss to LSU in their last game.
In the 77-54 loss to LSU, Texas A&M’s top scorer was Quenton Jackson with 17 points, two assists and one rebound. Emanuel Miller notched 14 points with eight rebounds and one assist as the only other Aggies player to hit double-figures.
Texas A&M is 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. The Aggies are 1-4 ATS in their last five games versus a team with a winning straight-up record and the under is 4-0 in their last four games overall.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games after an ATS loss. Auburn is 1-5 ATS in their last six road games and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
PICK: I’m going to lean Auburn in this one. Texas A&M was pretty flat in their last outing versus LSU, notching just 38.2 percent shooting, 19.2 percent on 3-pointers and getting out-rebounded 40-31. Auburn has been sketchy themselves at times this season but their scoring has remained relatively consistent over the last six game: 74 or more points in five of them. This should be an interesting matchup, but I like the Tigers to pull away in the second half and cover/win.
