The East Carolina Pirates and the Tulane Green Wave meet in college basketball action from Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.

The East Carolina Pirates will look to build on their 7-1 record after beating Tulane at home in their last outing by a final score of 68-58. Jayden Gardner leads the Pirates in scoring and rebounding, posting a team-high 18.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game this season, shooting 48.2% from the field while J.J. Miles is the Pirates only other double-digit scorer, logging 10.7 PPG this season. Brandon Suggs isn’t far off from being number three with 9.9 PPG as well as 4.3 RPG and 2.1 APG this season. Bitumba Baruti has 9.3 PPG while Terence Newton has 8.4 PPG, 4.5 RPG and a team-high 4.5 APG this season. As a team, East Carolina is averaging 72.1 points on 44.5% shooting from the field, 36.6% from behind the arc and 74.1% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 63.3 points on 40.3% shooting from the field and 28.3% from 3-point range this season.

The Tulane Green Wave will try to earn some measure of revenge after falling to East Carolina in their last meeting. Jaylen Forbes leads Tulane in scoring with an average of 15.3 points per game along with 5.1 rebounds per game, putting Forbes in 2nd on the Green Wave on the glass while Jordan Walker has 12.7 PPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Tulane so far this season with Walker posting a team-high average of 4.3 APG this season. Gabe Watson isn’t far off either from making the duo of double-digit scorers a trio, posting 9.8 PPG on 40.7% shooting from the floor this season. R.J. McGee has 7 PPG and a team-high 5.3 RPG for Tulane on the year. As a team, Tulane is averaging 66.9 points on 39.5% shooting from the field, 30.6% from behind the arc and 74.1% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 71.4 points on 39.4% shooting from the field and 32.3% from 3-point range this season.

East Carolina is 9-20 ATS in their last 29 road games and 7-19 ATS in their last 26 road games against a team with a winning home record while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Tulane is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 Saturday games while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall. The road team is 11-4 ATS in the last 15 meetings between these two teams.

Both teams have stepped up their play lately and this game’s truly a coin flip with the line being so low it could truly go either way. However, while Tulane’s at home, the Green Wabe have had issues against the number when the number’s actually a reasonable one. East Carolina got the win the first time and they’ve had time to let it sink in and refocus on the task at hand, so while laying points with a team to win back-to-back games against the same opponent isn’t an easy ask, I think it’s our only option here. I’ll back East Carolina for the win in this one.
