Samford opened up the year with a loss to Alabama A&M, but then rattled off wins over Covenant and Belmont before falling to Georgia and Troy. Since then it’s been three wins for the Bulldogs; they’ve taken out Kennesaw State, Belhaven and VMI in their last trio.
In the win over VMI, Samford’s top scorers were AJ Staton-McCray and Preston Parks, each with 15 points and a combined five assists and 10 rebounds. Myron Gordon added 14 points with three rebounds and two assists, while Richardson Maitre chipped in 12 points.
Over on the Wofford side, they began their year with consecutive wins over Toccoa Falls and Carver, but then fell to Richmond and South Florida. The Terriers beat Coastal Carolina, then fell to Texas A&M before getting a win over Mercer 78-65 in their last game.
In the win over the Bears, Wofford’s top scorer was Storm Murphy with 16 points, five rebounds and four assists. Both Ryan Larson and Tray Hollowell notched 13 points apiece, combining for eight assists and 12 rebonds for the Terriers as well.
The Terriers are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games after an ATS win and 3-7-3 ATS in their last 13 after a straight-up win. Wofford is 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall and the over is 47-20 in their last 67 home games.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 16-33-4 ATS in their last 53 games overall and 5-1 ATS in their last six Saturday games. Samford is 5-17-1 ATS in their last 23 road games and the over is 40-17 in their last 57 overall.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Samford in this one. The Bulldogs have been pretty consistent all year when it comes to offense. They’ve notched 71 or more points in seven out of eight games and have been close in their three losses. As for Wofford, they’ve got some good scorers as well but have put up a couple of dud games at 56 points or under. This should be a pretty good matchup but I like the Bulldogs to eke it out on a cover.
