Binghamton opened their season with a string of six straight losses. The Bearcats lost twice to Marist, then fell to Youngstown State, Stony Brook twice and Binghamton twice. Binghamton was competitive in a handful of those defeats but also suffered some blowouts over the first seven games.
In Saturday’s game, Binghamton fell behind 26-39 at the half against Hartford, and couldn’t gain any more ground in an eventual 76-56 loss. Topping the Bearcats in scoring there was Tyler Bertram with 16 points, one assist and one rebound. Brenton Mills added 10 points with two assists and one rebound.
Over on the Hartford side, they kicked off their season with consecutive losses to Connecticut and Villanova before rattling off five straight wins. Those came over Fairfield, Central CT State, Fairfield again and twice to Maine. The Hawks fell in consecutive games to New Hampshire in the following pair.
In Saturday’s game, Hartford was on a nice scoring clip, notching 39 points in the first half and 37 more in the second. Leading the way for the Hawks was DJ Mitchell with 17 points, one rebound and one assist. Both Traci Carter and Austin Williams added 12 points apiece as well.
The Hawks are 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 Sunday games and 21-9-1 ATS in their last 31 games overall. Hartford is 11-5 ATS in their last 16 home games and the under is 4-2 in their last six games overall.
Meanwhile, Binghamton is 4-2 ATS in their last six road games and the over is 10-2 in their last 12 games overall. The over is 5-1 in the Bearcats’ last six road games and 4-1 in their last five Sunday games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Hartford again here. Granted, the Hawks have been pretty inconsistent on offense this season, and they were below 70 points in eight of their first nine games. The offense seemed to open up in a good matchup versus Binghamton on Saturday, though. If they can get into a good rhythm again, I like the Hawks to get it going again here and bang out a cover.
