The Northwestern Wildcats and the Michigan Wolverines meet in Big Ten college basketball action from the Crisler Center on Sunday night.

The Northwestern Wildcats will look to bounce back from an 87-72 loss to Iowa in their last game, falling to 6-2 on the year as a result. Miller Kopp l;eads Northwestern in scoring, averaging 14.6 PPG on 56.1% shooting from the field and 57.6% from 3-point range while Chase Audige has 13 PPG while Boo Buie is right behind with 12.9 PPG as well as a team-high 5.6 APG this season. Pete Nance is Northwestern’s 4th and final double-digit scorer this year, averaging 11.9 PPG along with a team-high 6.5 RPG. Ryan Young’s also chipping in 9 PPG and 6.1 RPG for the Wildcats this season. As a team, Northwestern is averaging 83.6 points on 48% shooting from the field, 42.4% from 3-point range and 73.8% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 65.4 points on 39% shooting from the field and 29.5% from 3-point range this season.

The Michigan Wolverines will look to remain unbeaten after climbing to 8-0 on the year following an 84-73 win over Maryland in their last game. Hunter Dickinson leads Michigan in scoring and in rebounding with 16.6 PPG and 8.8 RPG while also logging 1.6 blocks per game this season. Isaiah Livers has 14.4 PPG with 5.3 RPG and Franz Wagner has 12 PPG and 6.6 RPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Michigan this season. Eli Brooks, Chaundee Brown and Mike Smith each have 9+ PPG with Brooks recording 3.8 APG and Smith putting up a team-high 5.1 APG this season. As a team, Michigan is averaging 82.3 PPG on 52.3% shooting from the field, 34.9% from 3-point range and 78.9% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 68.4 points on 37.7% shooting from the field and 37% from 3-point range this season.

Northwestern is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record. Michigan is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games while the over is 6-2 in their last 8 Sunday games. The home team Is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.

I understand Michigan being favored, unbeaten and at home. However, this heavy of a line is showing no respect to what Northwestern’s already accomplished this season. This Wildcats team has completely grown from the team that collapsed against Pitt, with wins over Michigan State, Ohio State and Indiana, and the loss to Iowa isn’t that bad because I’ll give you a spoiler, a lot of teams are going to lose to Iowa this season. Michigan’s sitting atop the Big Ten, but their first three games came against the bottom three teams in the conference at the moment and outside of that, there hasn’t been much of a test for the Wolverines. I think Northwestern brings a real challenge to the table so I’ll take a shot with Northwestern and the points here.
