The Denver Pioneers and the South Dakota Coyotes meet in college basketball action from the Sanford Coyote Sports Center on Sunday.
The Denver Pioneers will look to bounce back after falling to South Dakota in their last outing to drop to 1-7 on the year. Jase Townsend leads the Pioneers in scoring with 18.6 PPG as Denver’s lone double-digit scorer this season while Robert Jones is 2nd in scoring with 9.4 PPG and Sam Hines Jr. comes in next with 8.7 PPG while leading Denver in the rebounding department, pulling down 5.7 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Denver is averaging 67.3 points on 45.6% shooting from the field, 31.8% from 3-point range and 76.5% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to put up 77.4 points on 46.3% shooting from the field and 39.4% from 3-point range this season.
The South Dakota Coyotes will look to add to their win over the Pioneers from Saturday and go for the back-to-back sweep on Sunday. Stanley Umude leads the Coyotes in scoring and in rebounding, putting up team-highs of 21.6 PPG and 7 RPG while A.J. Plitzuweit is the only other Coyote averaging double figures In scoring, logging 15.4 PPG this season in addition to leading South Dakota in the assist department with 3.9 APG to go along with 4.3 RPG this season. Denver is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a road underdog. South Dakota is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a losing record whiel the over is 9-1 in their last 10 Sunday games. The home team is 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
I’m not sure South Dakota is the kind of team I’d want to be laying this kind of number with, even at home. However, it’s better than the alternative as Denver’s numbers make things look a lot better for the Pioneers than they actually are. This Denver team is terrible against the number, going 1-6 ATS this season and I just don’t see that changing here even if the Coyotes are at home. I’ll lay the points with South Dakota in this spot.
