Campbell kicked off the year with four straight wins, taking out St. Andrews, Jacksonville, New Orleans and Florida National. Since then however, it’s been five straight losses for the Camels. Those came to Elon, NC State, UNC Wilmington, and twice to Winthrop last week.
In Thursday’s loss to the Eagles, Campbell’s leading scorer was Jordan Whitfield on 20 points with two rebounds and two assists. Cedric Henderson added 15 points, four rebounds and one assist, while Jesus Carralero had 12 points with five rebounds and five assists in 33 minutes.
Over on the Gardner-Webb side, they began their year on a three-game losing streak, falling to Western Kentucky, Pittsburgh and East Tennessee State. Since then it’s been losses to Florida State and Hampton sandwiched between wins over VMI and Hampton for the Bulldogs.
In the win Thursday over the Pirates, Gardner-Webb’s top scorer was Jacob Falko on 22 points with seven rebounds and one assist. Jaheam Cornwall managed 17 points with six assists and two rebounds, and Kareem Reid had 13 points with three boards in 16 minutes of play.
The Bulldogs are 4-0 ATS in their last four Monday games and 5-0 ATS in their last five home games. Gardner-Webb is 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games overall and the over is 6-1 in their last seven home games.
Meanwhile, the Camels are 9-4-1 ATS in the last 14 versus a team with a winning percentage below .400 and 4-0 ATS in their last four games as a favorite. The over is 5-2-1 in the Camels’ last eight road games and the under is 6-1 in the last seven Monday games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Campbell here. Gardner-Webb has had some good offensive outings this season, but they’ve also been wildly inconsistent on the scoreboard. The Bulldogs have three games with 80 or more points, and three more at 60 or below. Campbell has 159 combined in their last pair, and I think this one will be another high-scoring outing for both teams. I like the Camels to eke out a cover though. Should be a good matchup.
