The Stanford Cardinal and the Oregon State Beavers meet in Pac 12 college basketball action from Gill Coliseum on Monday afternoon.
The Stanford Cardinal will look to bounce back after having their four-game winning streak snapped with a 73-56 loss to Oregon in their last game. Oscar Da Silva leads Stanford in scoring and rebounding, posting team-highs of 17.9 PPG and 6 RPG while Daejon Davis is 2nd in scoring and tops in assists with 13.8 PPG and 3.8 APG this season. Freshman sensation Zlaire Williams is 3rd in scoring with 11.8 PPG and Bryce Wills has 10.1 PPG as Stanford 4th and final double-digit scorer entering play on Monday, also recording 4.9 RPG this season. As a team, Stanford is averaging 70.6 PPG on 45.4% shooting from the field, 30.2% from 3-point range and 69.4% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 65.6 points on 39% shooting from the field and 33.3% from 3-point range this season.
The Oregon State Beavers will try to add to their three-game winning streak after picking up a 73-64 win over Cal last time out. Ethan Thompson leads the Beavers in scoring with 17.1 PPG as well as logging 3.6 RPG and 3.6 APG while Jarod Lucas is the only other Beaver averaging double digits scoring posting 11.1 PPG this season. Warith Alatishe has a team-high 8.8 RPG to go along with his 9.9 PPG, barely missing out on being Stanford’s 3rd double-digit scorer entering play on Monday while Zach Reichle has 9.4 PPG and a team-high 4 APG this season. As a team, Oregon State is averaging 76.5 PPG on 43.6% shooting from the field, 37.5% from 3-point range and 73.3% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 64.3 PPG on 40.3% shooting from the field and 29.6% from the 3-point line this season.
Stanford is 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall and 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 road games. Oregon State is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record and 3-12 ATS in their last 15 home games against a team with a winning road record while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record. The road team is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.
I get why the points are tempting with the Beavers as a decent home dog in conference play isn’t something you get often. However, I think Stanford is not only the better team coming into this game, but they’ve played a much tougher schedule with a much better resume win with their victory over Arizona while Oregon State’s resume features losses to Portland and Wyoming as sizeable home favorites and a loss at Washington State where the Beavers scored just 55 points while their best wins are against Cal. I think the loss to Oregon was a bit of a reality check for Stanford and that the Cardinal come back focused for this game, so I’ll lay the points with Stanford on the road in this one.
