Iowa opened the season on a six-game winning streak, taking out NC Central, Southern U, Western Illinois, North Carolina, Iowa State and Northern Illinois. Since then it’s been losses to Gonzaga and Minnesota mixed in with wins over Purdue, Northwestern and Rutgers for the Hawkeyes.
In the win over the Scarlet Knights, Iowa’s top scorer was Luka Garza on 25 points with four rebounds and one assist. Keegan Murray added 14 points with nine boards and one assist, and Jordan Bohannon chipped in 13 points with four rebounds and four assists.
Over on the Maryland side, they kicked off their year with wins over Old Dominion, Navy, Mount St. Mary’s and Saint Peter’s. The Terrapins are just 2-5 since then, beating La Salle and Wisconsin while otherwise falling to Clemson, Rutgers, Purdue, Michigan and Indiana.
In the loss to the Hoosiers, Indiana’s top contributor was Trayce Jackson-Davis with 22 points, 15 rebounds and one assist. Race Thompson also doubled up with 13 points and 11 boards, and Aljami Durham added 13 points with three assists and two rebounds.
The Terrapins are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. Maryland is 1-5 ATS in their last six Thursday games and the over is 13-3-1 in their last 17 overall.
Meanwhile, the Hawkeyes are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games overall and 14-2 ATS in their last 16 after an ATS loss. The over is 4-0 in Iowa’s last four Thursday games and 10-3 in their last 13 games overall.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Iowa here. The Hawkeyes are on a nice scoring run this season, posting 70 points or more in all 11 of their games so far. The Hawkeyes have notched a couple of nice wins in their last two games, and shot a nice 46.4 percent from the field in the win over Rutgers. Maryland is a strong team themselves, and they’ve had some tough matchups lately. I think the Terrapins will hang around for a while in this one, with Iowa ultimately bagging a cover.
