The Nevada Wolf Pack and the San Diego State Aztecs meet Thursday in college basketball action from Viejas Arena.
Nevada enters this one at 8-3 so far. The Wolf Pack have won consecutive games versus New Mexico in their last two outings. As for San Diego State, they’re 7-2 this season. The Aztecs are 2-1 in their last three games and coming off a win over Colorado State. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Nevada got off to a nice start this year with wins over ND State, Nebraska and Pacific in their first three games. The Wolf Pack went just 1-2 in their next three games before taking out San Diego and Air Force. Since then it’s been a loss to Air Force and two wins 68-54 and 84-74 over New Mexico.
in the Saturday victory over the Lobos, Nevada’s Grant Sherfield led the way on 28 points with eight assists and four rebounds. Desmond Cambridge added 15 points with six rebounds and four assists, and Kane Milling chipped in 14 points with one board for the Wolf Pack.
Over on the San Diego State side, they opened the year with five straight wins over UCLA, UC Irvine, St. Katherine, Pepperdine and Arizona State. After two losses to BYU and Colorado State in their next three games, the Aztecs managed a 78-65 win over Colorado State on Monday.
In the win over the Rams, San Diego State’s Jordan Schakel posted 28 points with nine rebounds and three assists to lead the team. Terrell Gomez added 13 points, four assists and one rebound for the Aztecs, and Matt Mitchell managed 12 points with five boards and two assists.
San Diego State is 1-5 ATS in their last six games after an ATS win and 8-1 ATS in their last nine Thursday games. The Aztecs are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 at home versus a team with a winning road record and the over is 4-1 in their last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Wolf Pack are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine Thursday games. Nevada is 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and the over is 6-1 in their last seven games overall.
PICK: I’m going to stick with San Diego State here. This should be a pretty good matchup overall, though. The Aztecs have been scoring pretty consistently this season, with 73 or more points in six of their seven victories. SDSU had a seven-point lead on the Rams at halftime in their latest loss, but posted a bad second with 27 points—otherwise that would have been another win. Nevada has a good offense themselves and I expect the Wolf Pack to hang around for a while, but I like the Aztecs to bang out an eventual cover.
