The Indiana Hoosiers and the Wisconsin Badgers meet in college basketball action from the Kohl Center on Thursday night.
The Indiana Hoosiers will look to build on back-to-back wins after a 63-55 win over Maryland in their last matchup. Trayce Jackson-Davis leads the Hoosiers in scoring and rebounding, posting an average of 20.3 PPG and 8.9 RPG while Armaan Franklin has averaging 12.7 PPG to sit 2nd on the Hoosiers in scoring and Aljami Durham has 10.1 PPG and a team-high 3.2 APG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for Indiana coming into Thursday’s matchup. Race Thompson is almost the 4th double-digit scorer for the Hoosiers, posting an average of 9.8 PPG and 6.9 RPG this season. As a team, Indiana is averaging 71.8 PPG on 45.8% shooting from the field, 32.7% from 3-point range and 68.7% from the foul line this season while allowing opposing teams to average 64.5 PPG on 40.5% shooting from the field and 30.7% from the 3-point line this season.
The Wisconsin Badgers will look to build on their 9-2 overall mark after a 71-59 win over Minnesota at home in their last game. D’Mitrik Trice leads the Badgers in scoring and assists with 14.2 PPG and 3.4 APG while Micah Potter has 12.7 PPG to sit 2nd on the team in scoring with a team-high 7.3 RPG this season. Brad Davison, Nate Reuvers and Aleem Ford each have 10+ PPG to make up the group of double-digit scorers for Wisconsin this season. As a team, Wisconsin is averaging 76.2 PPG on 46.6% shooting from the field, 41.4% from 3-point range and 74.9% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 60.5 PPG on 37.9% shooting from the field and 32.5% from 3-point range this season.
Indiana is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record. Wisconsin is 8-3-2 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 Thursday games while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall. The home team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
My initial lean was towards the Hoosiers with the points as I think Jackson-Davis can give the Badgers some fits inside. However, you look up and down this Badgers roster and there’s just a ton of talent and experience that I’m not sure that the Hoosiers are ready to have to deal with. I think this ends up being a similar result to what we saw in Wisconsin’s win over Minnesota, like an 11-12 point win, so give me the Badgers and lay the points.
