The Little Rock Trojans and the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns meet Friday in college basketball action from the Cajundome.
Little Rock comes into this matchup at 6-3 so far. The Trojans have won consecutive games, both versus TX-Arlington. As for Louisiana, they’re 7-2 this season. Little Rock opened up their season at 2-2, beating Prairie View and Duquesne while falling to UNC Greensboro and Winthrop. Wins over Central AR and Champion came after that. Following a loss to Missouri State the Trojans have won their last pair versus TX-Arlington 102-93 and 75-62.
In the Saturday win over the Mavericks, Little Rock’s top performer was Ben Coupet with 26 points, six rebounds and one assist. Ruot Monyyong doubled up with 18 points and 15 rebounds, and Marco Andric had 13 points, three assists and two boards for the Trojans.
Over on the Cajuns’ side, they opened up their year with a big loss to Baylor. After that came seven straight wins over New Orleans, LSU Shreveport, LSU-Alexandria, LA Tech, New Orleans, McNeese State and Texas State. Louisiana lost the rematch to the Bobcats, though.
In the 71-59 loss to Texas State on Saturday, Louisiana’s top scorer was Mylik Wilson with 14 points, three assists and two rebounds. Cedric Russell added 11 points with three rebounds and two assists, while Theo Akwuba chipped in nine points and nine boards.
The Cajuns are 4-0 ATS in their last four Friday games and 3-9-2 ATS in their last 14 after an ATS loss. Louisiana is 5-2 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up loss and the under is 5-1 in their last six overall.
Meanwhile, the Trojans are 2-5 ATS in their last seven Friday games and 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 after an ATS win. The over is 7-0 in their last seven road games and 21-5 in Little Rock’s last 26 overall.
PICK: I’m going to take a shot on Little Rock here. The Trojans have looked pretty solid scoring-wise this season, notching 70 or more in all nine games. Little Rock has given up some sizable totals on the other side, though, like 85 to Missouri State. Louisiana is coming off a pretty flat performance in the Texas State loss, and I think they’ll play better here. Still, I think Little Rock’s offense is good enough to bang out a cover.
