Mount St. Mary’s started out the year with a nice win over Morgan State 62-55. After that came three straight losses for the Mountaineers, however. Those defeats came courtesy of Navy Maryland and VCU. Mount St. Mary’s then beat St. Francis PA in game five.
In the Thursday game, Mount St. Mary’s had a 39-31 lead at the break, but laid an egg in the second half on the way to a 70-55 loss. Tops in scoring for the Mountaineers was Damian Chong Qui, with 17 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Over on the St. Francis BK side, they opened up their season with a loss to Bryant, but then took out the Bulldogs in the rematch. The Terriers then split two games versus Central Connecticut State 91-86 (win) and 78-59 (loss) before falling to Saint Peter’s in their fifth game.
In Thursday’s victory, St. Francis Brooklyn notched 39 points in the second half en route to an impressive comeback win. Leading the way for the Terriers in scoring was Chauncey Hawkins with 23 points, three rebounds and seven assists.
The Terriers are 2-4-2 ATS in their last eight games as a home favorite and 2-3-1 ATS in their last six games versus a team with a losing straight-up record. The over is 4-2 in St. Francis BK’s last six home games and 4-2 in their last five as a favorite.
Meanwhile, the Mountaineers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven Friday games and 2-8-1 ATS in their last 11 road games. Mount St. Mary’s is 4-12-1 ATS in their last 17 games overall and the under is 5-1 in their last six road games.
PICK: I’m going with St. Francis Brooklyn here. This should be another pretty good matchup and a fun one to watch. The Terriers have notched some good points totals this season, and opened up on three straight with 82 or more. Thursday’s game was a horrible second half for Mount St. Mary’s, as they scored just 16 points. I expect a better effort out of the Mountaineers Friday, but the Terriers still look good to me.
