The Ohio Bobcats and the Toledo Rockets meet Friday in college basketball action from Savage Arena.
Ohio enters this one at 6-4 so far. The Bobcats have won consecutive games versus Ball State and Northern Illinois. As for Toledo, they’re sitting at 9-3 this year. The Rockets have won six straight games, taking out Kent State in their last appearance. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Ohio opened up the year at 4-1, with a loss to Illinois being the only blemish among wins over Chicago State, NC A&T, Cleveland State and Purdue Calumet. After three straight losses, the Bobcats have bounced back with wins over Ball State and Northern Illinois in their last two games.
In the 76-73 win over Northern Illinois, Ohio’s Dwight Wilson led the team on 25 points with eight rebounds and two assists. Ben Roderick added 13 points with three rebounds and two assists, while Ben Vander Plas notched 11 points, seven assists and five rebounds.
Over on the Toledo side, they started out at 1-2 but have been on a nice run since then. After wins over Cleveland State and Eastern Michigan came a loss to Michigan, then a six-game win streak. In their last two games, the Rockets have beaten Western Michigan and Kent State.
In the 84-82 win over Kent State on Tuesday, Toledo’s top performer was Spencer Littleson with 26 points and three rebounds. Marreon Jackson posted 22 points with five assists and three rebounds, and Ryan Rollins chipped in 13 points with six boards and four assists.
The Rockets are 6-15 ATS in their last 21 home games and 5-0 ATS in their last five overall. The over is 5-2 in Toledo’s last seven versus a team with a winning straight-up record and the under is 4-0 in their last four at home.
Meanwhile, the Bobcats are 6-2 ATS in their last eight after an ATS loss and 5-1 ATS in their last six Friday games. Ohio is 1-4 ATS in their last five overall and 6-2 ATS in the last eight road games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Toledo. Ohio has notched some nice offensive numbers lately, scoring 70 or more in each of their last four games. The Bobcats also hung with a great Illinois team very well. That said, Toledo is on a roll themselves, notching 70 or more points in each of their last five outings. This one should stay pretty close for most of the game, but I like the Rockets to eke out a cover here.
